For over 30 years the Cynthia Robinshaw Vocal Studio has been known for preparing champion singers. Cynthia has produced hundreds of All-State winners, Solo and Ensemble superior and excellent ratings, All Eastern Chorus entrants, and RI NATS competition winners. Cynthia's student numbers grew as she honed her craft to become one of Rhode Island's foremost voice teachers and voice remediators. In the late 1970s she had only a handfull of students. Today, with over 60 students, Cynthia finds that at times many prospective students must be placed on a waiting list.
Rhode Island choral directors have been seeking out Cynthia to teach voice to their chorus students for several years.Cynthia teaches the healthy Classical Bel Canto singing approach as well as Broadway, healthy belting , jazz, pop, and other styles. Dealing with vocal problems is one of Cynthia's skills. With a background in Voice as well as Speech Pathology, Cynthia is noted for remediating problem voices. She works with elementary school age children through adults, beginners to professional performers.
The important points covered in each lesson include the basics of singing including posture, breath control, pitch, resonance, healthy vocal placement, vocal health, etc as well as sight singing and ear training.
Besides teaching voice, Cynthia is an accomplished pianist and accompanies her student recitals. She also has limited openings for piano students.
