For over 30 years the Cynthia Robinshaw Vocal Studio has been known for preparing champion singers. With new inovations in voice science and vocal technology Cynthia has become Rhode Island's foremost authority on voice and voice problems.

Cynthia has produced hundreds of All-State winners, Solo and Ensemble superior and excellent ratings, All Eastern Chorus entrants, and RI NATS competition winners as well as two Miss Rhode Island contestants to Miss America.

Every student who has ever applied to a music school or conservatory has been accepted. Many with scholarships for their talent. Other students have succeeded in winning national competitions or gone on to be professional performers or music teachers.

Besides teaching classical singers Cynthia teaches Broadway music to adults, teens, and children from several theater groups in the area such as Rhode Island Children's Theater, Kaleidoscope Theater, Encore Repertory, Rhode Island Stage Ensemble, Community Players, Mill River Players, Swamp Meadow Theater, Theater Works, Theater Company of Rhode Island, A-Z Theater, Academy Players, and Bradley Playhouse Theater in Connecticut.Cynthia also teaches commercial music such as jazz and pop.

Cynthia's student numbers grew as she honed her craft to become one of Rhode Island's foremost voice teachers and voice remediators. In the late 1970s she had only a handfull of students. Today, with over 50 students, Cynthia finds that at times many prospective students must be placed on a waiting list.

Rhode Island choral directors have been seeking out Cynthia to teach voice to their chorus students for several years.Cynthia teaches the healthy Classical Bel Canto singing approach as well as Broadway, healthy belting , jazz, pop, and other styles.

Dealing with vocal problems is one of Cynthia's skills. With a background in Voice as well as Speech Pathology, Cynthia is noted for remediating problem voices. She works with elementary school age children through adults, beginners to professional performers.

The important points covered in each lesson include the basics of singing including posture, breath control, pitch, resonance, healthy vocal placement, vocal health, etc as well as sight singing and ear training.

Besides teaching voice, Cynthia is an accomplished pianist and accompanies her student recitals. She also has limited openings for piano students.

Mission: Cynthia is devoted to inspiring students of all ages and backgrounds to utilize and improve the gift they were given--the voice. It is the student who suceeds in their craft. Cynthia believes that she guides the student to attain his/her very best. Cynthia strives to insure that every student who enters contests sponsored by MENC, RIMEA, NATS, etc. is prepared to the best of his/her ability and ready to perform at the audition. Any auditionees for theater groups are prepared fully and expected to get parts.

Students who are planning on becoming professional musicians are challenged to succeed by Cynthia's continued encouragement and disciplined approach.

Cynthia encourages all students to participate in her recitals. She challenges each student to be the best they can possibly be and reach for the stars.
